Thank you for your interest in Bakersfield Heart Hospital's Junior Heart Volunteer Program! This Program provides students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a hospital setting.
Volunteers interact and develop relationships with patients. They read and listen to the patients, play board games and card games, or provide the patient with crossword puzzles or magazines. The time a Junior Heart spends with the patient makes the patient experience most memorable. It also plays a vital role in fulfilling our mission - enhancing the quality of health of our patients and their families by providing the highest personal service
The Junior Heart program also provides the volunteers with the opportunity to learn the importance of ethics and confidentiality, professional behavior and appearance, proper patient interaction, infection control, fire safety and more.
